Arctic zone and skating

Top of the Morning to you!
Today Minnesota will once again live up to her reputation as the Frozen Tundra Capital of the world. As I write this it is -12 degrees F. It will warm up to 10 above!! More cold Arctic air will swoop down from the North and a high pressure system has settled in. Our lows will go further South in the next couple of days. Bundle up. Bundle up.

As you know, the cold air does not keep us inside. After school today, I will pick up the school age grandbabies for some ice-skating. Yes, it will be cold, so not long on the ice. Something you do not know is that we have warming houses by every ice rink, too. These are rooms where you can lace up your skates but also get in from the cold. They are toasty warm and WONDERFUL accommodations that make skating possible on cold days like today. Speaking of ice-skating, I am now only using the stroller when I start out, just a round or two to get my skating legs a little more secure. Last weekend, I was able to set it aside and skate without it for about 40 minutes! I am finding my skater within!!

How about you, what kind of weather will come your way today??
Stay strong and TTFN,Michele

  1. Did you scrape off the ice from your glasses? ;)
Wow, I love how the cold just doesn't get you down but you live in and enjoy it! I am a wimp when it comes to cold lately.
    Have a wonderful day Michele!!

  2. I once was on a flight from Atlanta to Denver with Brian Boitano. I'm sure if I called him and asked, he'd be happy to fly to Minnestota and skate a few rounds with you. What do you think??

We still have the low clouds and drizzles in East TN, but milder temps (if you can call 40 mild). To you, that would be a heat wave. For me, I'd take cooler temps if we could just see some sun!

  3. We are your frozen neighbors to the west. ND is experiencing similar weather. Glad to hear it does not keep you in though. Have fun with the grandbabies!

  4. Minnesota may be the Frozen Tundra Capital of the world, but the people there have some of the warmest, kindest hearts I've ever met. We've had a balmy winter in Denver, CO this year, but tons, literally tons, of snow in the mountains. Skiiers believe they've found heaven this year. It's heaven for me, too, as long as the snow stays in the high country! Have fun with the grandkids.

  6. Brrrr, I think we'd die here with that weather or perhaps we'd just need to buy new clothes. It was -1 this morning and I wore just a sweater to work. I love that you're skating with your grandchildren. My lil granddaughter is 2-1/2 and I'm working towards being active to do more with her.

  11. I always walk the kids to the bus stop, I wrap them in blankets if it's really cold, you know 25 below or more. It's amazing how we tolerate the cold but then again it's like we die at 80* and anyone south of Iowa loves it.
We went sliding this morning, a little chilly but out and about anyways.
Take care and have a blessed afternoon. Extra socks for ice-skating. Have fun!!!

  12. Weather was sunny and colder (50's)-but at least sunny. People get super depressed around here with as much cloudiness as we have been having...
Dude I can't even see your eyes your glasses are all foggy!!!

  15. I'm in Vancouver, the weather is sunny but getting colder today. That said, our cold is NOTHING like yours, so we can't complain. AND...we can't skate outside, which truly is a joy!!! Stay warm!!!

  16. I admire how you don't let the cold stop you. Brrrrr. I used to live near Chicago -- hated the wind chills. Misery. Now we are in Utah. Love the winters here. It snows but we can easily spend hours playing in it.
